State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) today celebrated that the House approved bill package, which he is a sponsor of, that allows the state to join the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact, an agreement that enhances professional mobility and access to care across state lines.

The compact enables licensed occupational therapists to practice in other member states without needing to obtain additional licenses, expanding access to care for patients and reducing administrative burdens for providers.

“The adoption of this Compact is a strong step forward for the economic vitality of the Great Lakes and Midwest region,” said Wozniak. “By reducing barriers to professional licensure, particularly for occupations like Occupational Therapy, it enables qualified professionals to more easily live and work across state lines. This increased mobility not only fosters greater economic activity in the region, but also makes it more attractive for professionals to establish long-term roots.”

House Bills 4103 and 4104 now advance to the Michigan Senate for further consideration.
