Rep. Jenkins-Arno comments on Michigan’s updated revenue forecast
RELEASE|May 16, 2025

State Rep. Nancy Jenkins-Arno (R-Rollin Township) today issued a statement following the May Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference (CREC), which revealed a decline in the state’s projected revenue.

CREC, held twice a year in January and May, provides lawmakers with updated economic and revenue forecasts that shape Michigan’s budget planning. The January forecast forms the basis for the governor’s executive budget, while the May forecast offers a clearer picture before final budget decisions are made.

“Today’s updated revenue forecast is a stark reminder of the need for careful, thoughtful budgeting,” said Jenkins-Arno. “With revenue lower than expected, we must prioritize the needs of Michigan’s families and communities, to ensure that every dollar is spent wisely and effectively. It’s concerning that the Senate has already pushed forward with budget plans without fully understanding the revenue we can expect. We need a budget that is responsible and sustainable for Michigan’s future.

“As chair of the LEO subcommittee, I’m dedicated to ensuring that our budget supports workers and businesses while remaining fiscally responsible. We must focus on creating solutions that grow our economy and support our workforce without exhausting the state’s resources.”
