State Representative Cam Cavitt is seeking a part-time, paid intern in his Lansing office for the spring 2025 semester, and he encouraged students who hail from Northeast Michigan to apply.

The intern will assist Cavitt, R-Cheboygan, who represents Michigan’s 106th House District. The intern will help with various legislative responsibilities, including constituent relations to communicate with and assist Northeast Michigan residents.

“A legislative internship in our state Capitol is a great way to learn about state government and serve people,” Cavitt said. “I especially encourage Northeast Michiganders to apply for this paid opportunity to gain career experience. My staff and I look forward to having additional help as we serve the people of our region.”

The pay for the part-time internship is $15 per hour. Ideal candidates are recent high school graduates, college students, veterans, or others looking to get career experience in the Michigan Legislature. Strong applicants will have a positive attitude, previous office experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, telephone skills, and solid writing abilities. While knowledge of the legislative process is a plus, it is not required.

The internship schedule is flexible but typically runs Tuesdays through Thursdays when the House is in session. Some travel to the district may be required, and applicants must be able to commute to and from Lansing.

The deadline to apply is Friday, November 22, at 5 p.m. Interested applicants should send their résumés to camcavitt@house.mi.gov.
