State Rep. Cam Cavitt on Wednesday spearheaded the passage of his House Resolution 122, which recognizes May 31 through June 8, 2025, as Great Lakes and Fresh Water Week in Michigan.
“Our Northern Michigan community is home to seven of the largest inland lakes in the state and boasts over 200 miles of shoreline along Lake Huron,” said Cavitt, R-Cheboygan. “Michigan holds 20% of the world’s surface freshwater, a remarkable gift that defines our identity, drives our economy, and sustains our way of life. From fishing and farming to manufacturing and tourism, water powers nearly every sector in our state. But with this incredible gift comes responsibility. We must invest in water infrastructure, educate future generations, and work together at every level to protect this precious resource.”
