House Republican Leader Matt Hall, R-Richland Township, on Tuesday issued the following statement:
“Democrats tried to immunize their pay cut plan from the will of the people by adding in some spending, but they messed up the appropriation and had to bring the bill back to fix it. Democrat leadership and their union boss friends even brought a COVID-positive legislator to session just to rush through their radical repeal of right-to-work and insulate it from the people’s right to block bad laws via referendum. Democrats recklessly disregard the health and safety of legislators, staff, and guests: Will they stop at nothing to ram through their radical agenda?”
“Gov. Whitmer’s heavily-skewed, partisan commission is nothing but a Trojan horse for new taxes,” Hall said. “After four years of failure, the governor has no plan to keep young people in Michigan, no excuse for our crumbling roads, and no vision to improve childhood reading levels.”
“Michiganders want public safety in our communities, but House Democrats are pushing radical, unprecedented plans to let dangerous criminals roam our neighborhoods,” said Hall, R-Richland Township. “The Democrats’ newest, extreme proposal could release the most brutal murderers and rapists from prison and inject them back into our communities.”
“House Democrats’ wasteful spending ignores the priorities of the people of Michigan, shoveling taxpayer dollars to unsustainable new programs, pork, and partisan pet projects instead of investing critical resources into education, infrastructure, and local law enforcement,” Hall said.
