Rep. VanSingel announces disaster relief funding for Lake, Oceana and Newaygo counties
RELEASE|December 9, 2020

Rep. Scott VanSingel today announced emergency funding will be available in parts of Western Michigan to eligible small businesses, agricultural associations, and nonprofits impacted by frost and freeze that occurred in spring 2020.

VanSingel, of Grant, said he is glad the U.S. Small Business Administration is making Economic Injury Disaster Loans available to struggling business owners.

“I want to thank the Small Business Administration for providing relief to our communities, especially during such a difficult year,” VanSingel said. “Our business owners and nonprofit leaders in the agriculture industry have been dealt hardships no one should have to endure this year, between the May frost and the many obvious burdens caused by the coronavirus pandemic.”

“While this funding certainly won’t solve every problem for our families, it’s a step in the right direction and will surely make a difference. It’s good to be able to share some good news during such challenging times.”

Along with Lake, Oceana, and Newaygo counties, the loans are also available in Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Mason, Missaukee, Muskegon, Osceola, and Wexford counties.

Those applying may do so online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov. Applicants should apply under SBA declaration #16797. The deadline for applications is Aug. 2, 2021.

For more information, applicants may call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
