Rep. Green welcomes Rep.-elect Alexander, passes him the Thumb area baton
RELEASE|December 15, 2022
Contact: Phil Green

State Rep. Phil Green (R-Millington) welcomed Rep.-elect Greg Alexander (R-Carsonville) to the capital as he was sworn into office in December. Starting Jan. 1, Alexander will represent the new 98th House District, which covers the Thumb area mostly represented by Green prior to redistricting.

The new 98th District includes all of Huron and Sanilac counties, most of Tuscola County, and the townships of Rich, Burlington and North Branch in Lapeer County.

Green currently represents all of Tuscola and Huron counties, but due to newly established district lines by the state’s Redistricting Commission, he will soon represent a new district covering large portions of Lapeer and Genesee counties and just a small portion of Tuscola.

Greg Alexander is a dairy farmer dedicated to advocating for Michigan’s agriculture industry and a former Sanilac County drain commissioner who understands the importance of improving public infrastructure in the state’s rural communities. As a father of three, he plans to introduce and support policies that reflect family values.

“I am looking forward to serving as the voice of our area in my new role as state representative,” Alexander said. “I am eager to continue advocating for families, workers and seniors here in the Thumb.”

“I know Thumb residents are in good hands with Greg Alexander as their representative at the capital, and I look forward to working with him to advance our common legislative goals,” Green said. “It’s been an honor to serve the people of the Tuscola and Huron counties for the past four years – especially in my fight to save the Caro Center and numerous local jobs there in 2019. I am enthusiastic as I make the shift to represent my neighbors in Lapeer and Genesee counties in the new year.”

Green’s new 67th District specifically encapsulates the townships of Deerfield, Marathon, Oregon, Mayfield, Hadley, Metamora, Elba and Lapeer, as well as Lapeer City in Lapeer County, the townships of Thetford, Forest, Richfield and part of Genesee in Genesee County, and Waterton Township in Tuscola County.
