State Rep. Mike Mueller was recently named Legislator of the Year by the Michigan Sheriffs’ Association.

“My experience in law enforcement is a major part of what drives my desire to serve in the Legislature,” said Mueller, of Linden. “When I go to the Capitol, my goal is to be a voice for our community and shape policy decisions to make our state an even better place to live. It’s an honor to have my work recognized by the Michigan Sheriffs’ Association – an organization for which I have a tremendous amount of respect.”

Mueller, a retired sheriff’s deputy, is serving his second term in the Michigan House representing people in southern Genesee County and northwest Oakland County. He was recognized, in part, for spearheading a plan to offer additional funding for local law enforcement agencies and provide more tools for officer recruitment and retention.

Earlier this year, Mueller received awards from both the Police Officers Association of Michigan and the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.
